Hello families! My name is Hailee Chen and I am the 2nd/3rd grade teacher this year. I am so excited to be joining the Cubberley community! This is my 11th year teaching and my first year here at Cubberley.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in Torrance, CA. It is a smaller city in Los Angeles. I moved to San Diego to attend SDSU in 2009. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies and then went on to get my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I also completed my Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Teaching and Learning. Education has always been my passion from a young age since I come from a family of teachers! In San Diego, I met my husband, Richard. We have been married for 8 years and have two children, Isla (she was in UTK at Cubberley last year!), who is almost 6 and Jameson, who is 3 ½. I love spending time with them, cheering on my favorite sports teams, eating at restaurants all over San Diego and exploring our beautiful city!
I believe that children should be part of the decision-making and responsibilities within the classroom and community. I also believe that every child is capable of learning! I am looking forward to a wonderful year!
